The key is a powerful symbol for Palestinian refugees. A lot of them have saved keys to their houses in Palestine, and then pass them down to their children, etc. It is common for refugees to have one of these keys and sometimes a land/house title among their most prized posessions.
Now, I’m not sure about the noose, but that could be making a rather cynical statement. I will try and find out. One Arabic speaking friend (though not fluent/native) didn’t know what the writing above it meant.
